Robert Burke, founder of Northants Tai Chi Chuan teaches extensively in Northampton and as far afield as Market Harborough. Robert is a professional instructor and has qualified to teach under Master Dan Docherty, he is registered with the Tai Chi Union of Great Britain and The British Council of Martial Arts as a teacher. Robert (Bob to friends), has a depth of knowelege and love of the art that shines through in his classes, his approach to teaching enables the beginner to gain confidence and progress at their own pace, also keeping to traditional methods of teaching to give the best to the student to get the best out of the student.
Bob's style is patient and thorough and is always
willing to explain areas of the art that can mystify students new to
learning Tai Chi. Bob dose teach privately to individuals and is expert
in teaching the health aspect Chi Kung to groups such as Age Concern.
Bob on the other hand is a highly accomplished martial artist and knows
the arts self defense and fighting application which again his expertise
in teaching gets the very best out of his students and has brought
students from raw beginner to national and international competitions
and won !
Bernie has trained in martial arts nearly all of his adult life, studying Shotokan Karate and BoQic Kung Fu, happening upon Tai Chi almost by accident. Being drawn to the philosophical nature of martial arts Bernie initially started to learn Tai Chi under the 'Lee Family' system, then moving to the 'Yang' style studying both at the same time. By very good fortune Bob was running a class locally, where Bernie decided to investigate and then 'all the penny's started to drop'. Bob made absolute clarity in his explanations of Tai Chi Chuan and demystified the subject that Bernies two previous instructors had managed to accomplish. Bernie from that point never returned to either of his previous Tai Chi teachers, remaining as a student under Dan Docherty.
Having attended international Tai Chi Chuan courses,
seminars, workshops, and instructor training camps Bernie has become
adepth in Tai Chi Chuan. He has been teaching Tai Chi Chuan in Kettering
for three years and competes at pushing hands at national level. In his
approach to teaching he has Dan to thank, for developing a patient, but
thorough method of imparting knowelege to students in a way that builds
confidence but at the same time in an enjoyable manner.
